Christine Castillon’s CV

Yoga Teacher

Qualified teacher, certified by RIMYI (Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, founded by B.K.S. Iyengar at Pune in India) since 1997.  Member of A.F.Y.I. (Association Française de Yoga Iyengar).

Professional experience

Since 1994

I teach Iyengar Yoga, which I’ve been practising for fifteen years, to a diverse cross section of the public in Montpellier (general classes, practical and philosophical workshops).  I go regularly to Pune in order to recharge my batteries and improve my yoga.

From 1992 to 1997

I teach various physical and energetic techniques.  I train to be a yoga teacher following B.K.S. Iyengar’s method, at the Paris Iyengar Yoga Centre and at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.

From 1979 to 1992

I set up and run, with my husband, a specialist bookshop and library in Montpellier.  Philosophy, esotericism, traditions of the world, personal development, natural medecine...  Literature, children’s literature, educational games, music, stationery.

We organise numerous book-related events: workshops, talks, exhibitions...

We import and distribute nationally a range of English stationery.

We stop doing this work in 1992, because the book-selling context is no longer favourable to small organisations.

From 1977 to 1979

French Assistant in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  Job at the Queen’s University cinema.

Studies

From 1973 to 1977

Degree and Master’s degree in Philosophy, Paris IV Sorbonne.  Aesthetics: research on the poetic experience – comparative philosophies / India

Since 1986

I have written and published various articles in specialist reviews: “Le Compas”, “Emergence”, “Biocontact”, “Intuitions Magazine”, “Yoga Magazine”.  I regularly translate English texts into French for the magazines “Yogasara” and “Yoga Rahasya France”, published by the AFYI (Association Française de Yoga Iyengar).  I am in charge of the compilation of “Yoga Rahasya France”, created in 2001.

From April to June 2002: professional training in Proofreading at the C.F.D. (Ecole des métiers de l’information, 7/9, rue des petites Ecuries, 75010 Paris).

As well as continuing to teach yoga, I hope to turn more towards writing, translation and proofreading in connection with Eastern philosophies, in both the worlds of publishing and the specialist press.
